Reduced fares for over 60s on Trains
Take your Residence Card to a 'RENFE' ticket window (when few are queueing!). Pay only 3 euros. You will be given, there and then, a 'Tajeta Dorada' (Gold Card). This gets you about a THIRD off local trains, and about a QUARTER off 'Talgo', 'AVE/TAV/TGV' trains, etc.. Lasts for 12 months from date obtained. Ross Hill (amic de ferrocarril!).

Ross Hill has had a letter published in Catalonia Today (26.01.06).
It should read
'Gravy train Stops Under Girona?!'
North European tax payers are being ripped off for over ONE BILLION EUROS, in order to put THREE rail tunnels up to 5 kilometres under the centre of Girona. Have they forgotten the 'Carmel Disaster' in BCN!?
Why not just ONE TENTH of the cost, with SURFACE tracks alongside the AP7? Maybe someone should 'blow the whistle'in Brussels?!
